Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Mixed Dry Beans, Hurst's Hambeens brand, place bean in large pot with 2 quarts of water, soak 8 hrs or overnight
  • 1 pound Ham Hock
  • 2 quarts Water

Step 1

After soaking beans overnight, drain water, add 2 quarts of water, and ham.
 

Step 2

Bring beans to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2 1/2 hours.

Ingredients

  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 can Stewed Tomatoes, 15 oz can

Step 3

After simmering, add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon and garlic. Simmer for another 30 minutes.
 

Step 4

Add contents of ham packet 1 - 2 minutes before cooking (optional) completed. Salt and pepper to taste.
