Apple Pie

Directions

Ingredients

  • Pie Crust, from my recipies

Step 1

Prepare pie crust and roll out into two round circles. Place one circle into a pie dish and trim around the edges. Keep the extra scraps for designs on the pie.
 

Step 2

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Ingredients

  • 5 Honeycrisp or Braeburn Apples, add more if needed to fill the pie

Step 3

Peel, core and slice apples.

Ingredients

  • 12 cup Sugar
  • 12 cup Brown Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Flour
  • 14 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon

Step 4

Mix together the sugar, brown sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon, mix well. Add apples and toss well in the mixture. Pour mixture into the pie dish, spread evenly so everything is flat.

Ingredients

  • 12 stick Butter, cut into bits

Step 5

Put bits of butter all over the top of the apple mixture. Top with remaining pie crust circle and trim around the edges. Pinch the two crusts together to seal.
 

Step 6

Add slits around the pie to allow venting. Roll remaining scraps of dough together, then roll out to flatten. Cut shapes of fall leaves, or whatever you want. Place them on top of the pie, but do not cover the slits.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar

Step 7

Mix cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle over the top of the pie crust. Put foil around the edges of the pie so it doesn't burn. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
