Baked Brown Rice

The standard rice-cooker method doesn't necessarily apply to brown rice, so here's an alternative method, just as easy.



Step 1

Preheat oven to 375F.


  • 1 12 cups Brown Rice

Step 2

Place the rice into a glass baking dish. (Original recipe recommends an 8-inch square.)


  • 2 12 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt

Step 3

Bring the water, butter, and salt just to a boil in a kettle or covered saucepan.

Step 4

Once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine, and cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 1 hour.

Step 5

After 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve immediately.
