Benihana Japanese Onion Soup

  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Water

Step 1

Combine in large sauce pan over high heat.


  • 12 White Onion, chopped
  • 12 Carrot, chopped
  • 12 Celery Stalk, chopped
  • 12 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 small Garlic Clove, sliced

Step 2

Add to water/broth, reduce to simmer for about 10 mins until onion becomes translucent.

Step 3

Strain the vegetable out of the broth and discard.


  • 1 small French Fried Onions
  • 6 medium Sliced Mushrooms
  • 4 Green Onions, diced (green part only)

Step 4

To serve, ladle about 1 cup of broth in each bowl. In each bowl, drop a few pieces of fried onion, about 6 slices of mushrooms, and a couple of pinches of green onion. When fried onion has sunk to bottom of bowl it is ready to serve.
