Brazilian Feijoada

  • 2 cups Black Beans

Step 1

Place beans in a small saucepan; cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover and let stand for 1 hour. Drain. Alternately. Place the beans in a bowl and cover by 2 inches with cold water soak vernight. Drain.


  • 4 slices Thick Cut Bacon

Step 2

Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. remove from pa and crumble. Let bacon cool and then place in a plastic bag in the refrgeratorto use before serving.


  • 2 pounds Boneless Pork Shoulder, cut into 1/2' cubes
  • 12 teaspoon Salt
  • 12 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper

Step 3

Sprinkle pork evenly with salt/pepper. increase heat to med-high. Add pork to bacon drippings in skillet; cook the pork 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown all over. Transfer pork to 6qt slow cooker.


  • 3 Beef Short Ribs, boneless is best

Step 4

Sprinkle ribs evenly with salt/pepper.Add ribs to skillet; cook2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Place ribs in slow cooker.


  • 3 cups Chopped Onion
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 14 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 Ham Hock, smocked

Step 5

Add drained beans, 1/2 tsp salt, onion, chicken broth, garlic, and ham hock to slow cooker, stirring to combine. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until meat and beans are tender.


  • 1 tablespoon Distilled White Vinegar

Step 6

Shred meat with 2 forks. Remove and discard ham hock. Add the meat back to the slow cooker. stir in vinegar and crumbled bacon. serve with hot cooked rice and orange wedges.
