Clean Eating BBQ Sauce

I adapted the sauce found on AllRecipes to replace most ingredients with organic options. You can adjust the peppers to your liking.

This sauce is great to use to saute shrimp or brushed on top of hamburgers or meatloaf!



  • 1 cup Yellow Mustard
  • 34 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic
  • 2 tablespoons Chili Powder, Organic
  • 34 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper, Organic
  • 1 teaspoon Ground White Pepper, Organic
  • 14 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper, add another 1/4 teaspoon for spicy bbq sauce, or remove altogether for very mild sauce.
  • 12 cup Sugar Substitute, a stevia sugar, like truvia. i tried splenda, taste was off.

Step 1

Add mustard, Truvia, vinegar, chili powder, and peppers to a sauce pan. Cook over medium heat until it begins to bubble slightly. Then, reduce to low and let simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Do NOT cover!


  • 12 teaspoon Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, Organic
  • 1 tablespoon Liquid Smoke Flavoring

Step 2

Add the last ingredient to sauce and simmer for about 10-15 more minutes. Allow the sauce to completely cool before bottling. Store in fridge overnight before use to allow flavors to blend.
