Crock Pot Rustic Beef Stew

Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 12 pounds Beef Stew Meat, cut into 2 inch chunks
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 12 teaspoons Paprika
  • 12 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Step 1

Sprinkle beef with pepper, paprika and garlic powder.

Ingredients

  • 2 Parsnips, (optional, cut into chunks)
  • 2 Carrots, cut into chunks
  • 4 Potatoes, cut in quarters
  • 2 Onions, cut into chunks

Step 2

Place in a crock pot with onion, potato, carrots and parsnips.

Ingredients

  • 2 12 tablespoons A-1 Steak Sauce, or Heinz 57 sauce
  • Red Wine, Note: You can also add 1/3 cup of red wine
  • 1 cup Beef Broth, or water

Step 3

Add beef broth / water and steak sauce that have been mixed together.
 

Step 4

Cover and cook on LOW for 8 - 9 hours or until tender.
 

Step 5

Turn to HIGH.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons Water

Step 6

Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the crock pot.

Ingredients

  • Leek, Note: During the last 1/2 hour of cooking, you can add 1 leek that has been thoroughly rinsed and roughly chopped.

Step 7

Cover and cook on HIGH for 20 minutes or until slightly thickened.
