Diabetic Friendly Sloppy Joe's

Makes: 4 servings, scaled to 4 servings (x1) adjust
Sloppy Joes, adapted from the Ultimate Diabetes Meal Planner book and w/ some additions from the http://www.grouprecipes.com/34366/diabetic-sloppy-joe.html - slow cooker recipe. I don't use celery and peppers, but if you like that sort of thing, you can chock it full and eat a lot less sloppy joe.
Starch carbs per serving = 3.85 grams (this does not include vegetable carbs)

Brown ground beef and thoroughly drain. Add garlic, onions, celery, and green pepper. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes; then add tomato sauce, sugar, chili powder and pepper. Turn heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Spoon onto buns to serve.
OR Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover; cook on low for 8-10 hours o on high for 3-4 hours.
