Irish Soda Bread

A family friend would make this for us a lot. It is a great bread a little sweet and really easy. Heated up with butter it is wonderful.

Directions
 

Step 1

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Flour a cast iron skillet.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 1⁄2 cup Sugar
  • dash Salt
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder, Level teaspoons
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 tablespoons Whole Caraway Seed
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cups Buttermilk

Step 2

Mix all the ingredients together. It will create a moist, sticky dough.
 

Step 3

Spread out in the cast iron skillet and place in the oven for 1 hour. That's it.
