Italian Sausage Brunch Casserole

This can be assembled the night before (up until baking step) and refrigerated.

Directions

 

Step 1

Prep: Remove sausage from casings. Slice apples. Grate cheese. Beat eggs.
 

Step 2

Preheat oven to 350F

Ingredients

  • 5 links Sweet Italian Sausage, casings removed (Costco brand: Premio)

Step 3

Brown sausage well in a skillet over medium heat, breaking into small pieces as it cooks.
 

Step 4

Transfer meat with a slotted spoon to a 13-by-9-inch casserole, reserving the fat in the skillet.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Apple, peeled, cored and sliced

Step 5

Add apples to the skillet and saute over medium heat until soft.

Ingredients

  • 9 White Bread, crusts removed, diced
  • 1 Ground Dry Mustard
  • 1 12 cups Whole Milk
  • 2 cups Monterey Jack Cheese, or Cheddar, grated
  • 12 large Eggs, beaten

Step 6

Combine bread, apples, mustard, milk, cheese and eggs in a mixing bowl. Pour mixture over the meat in the casserole.
 

Step 7

Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue to bake for 20-30 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Makes 8-10 servings.
