KFC Gravy

This is a pretty close match to KFC gravy. Goes great over instant potatoes.



  • 2 14 cups Water
  • 2 teaspoons Chicken Bouillon
  • 2 teaspoons Beef Bouillon

Step 1

Bring water to a simmer and dissolve bouillon. Maintain a low simmer.


  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 5 tablespoons Flour

Step 2

Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and cook on low heat, stirring, about 7-8 minutes. The flour should be a medium brown color. Use caution not to burn it. Add the remaining 3 tablespoons of flour and stir for another minute or two.


  • 1 pinch Dried Rubbed Sage

Step 3

Gradually add the water with the dissolved bouillon, stirring to prevent lumps. Season with dried rubbed sage. Raise the temperature to medium and bring the gravy to a boil. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes or until desired thickness is reached.
