Makes: 24 servings adjust

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • 3 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and cut into small dice
  • 5 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 12 teaspoon Cinnamon

Step 2

Cook apples, sugar, butter and cinnamon in a medium pan over low heat, stirring, until butter has melted. Raise heat to medium-high; cook for 5 minutes, stirring, until apples release juice. Let cool.

  • 1 Pie Dough, or uncooked pie crust

Step 3

Roll out dough and with a biscuit cutter, cut circles that will fit into a muffin pan or even a mini muffin pan.

  • 13 cup Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Light Brown Sugar
  • 12 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • pinch Salt
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter, chilled, cut into small pieces
  • 13 cup Walnuts, finely chopped

Step 4

Mix flour, both sugars, cinnamon and salt. Rub in butter with your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Toss in walnuts.

Step 5

Divide filling among muffin cups, leaving juices behind. Gently press topping over apples. Bake until golden, 30-40 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove pies and place on rack to cool completely.
