My Mom's Sloppy Joes

My mom used to make this for my Dad when he was in college. The recipe came from her mom, my Grandma Wilma.

Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Chuck
  • 12 cup Onion, chopped
  • 14 cup Celery, chopped
  • 14 cup Green Pepper, chopped

Step 1

Saute the meat, onions, celery and green pepper until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. Drain away accumulated fat.

Ingredients

  • 12 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 14 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 can Cream of Tomato Soup, 10 oz, campbell's preferred
  • 14 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon White Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce

Step 2

Add the salt, pepper, tomato soup (undiluted), ketchup, sugar, vinegar and worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine.
 

Step 3

Simmer partially covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ingredients

  • Hamburger Bun

Step 4

Serve on lightly toasted hamburger buns.
