Makes: 6 servings adjust
Quick and really good. Served with Blueberry Sauce (see additional recipe) or pure maple syrup.

Note: Original recipe called for 12 slices white bread and 5-6 eggs. I used thick cut Italian bread and added an extra egg, keeping everything else the same.

  • 12 cup Butter

Step 1

Melt butter and pour into a 9x13 baking dish.

  • 12 slices Italian Bread, thick sliced; about 1/2 inch thick

Step 2

Put 6 slices of bread in a single layer in the bottom of the baking dish.

  • 23 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

Step 3

In a bowl mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 4

Sprinkle 1/2 of the sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the bread slices in the baking dish.

Step 5

Top each of the 6 slices of bread in the baking dish with an additional bread slice.

  • 7 large Eggs
  • 1 12 cups Whole Milk

Step 6

In a bowl, whisk the eggs with milk until well blended.

Step 7

Pour egg/milk mixture evenly over the bread slices in the baking dish.

Step 8

Sprinkle with remaining half of sugar/cinnamon mixture.

Step 9

Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

Step 10

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 11

Bake casserole covered for 30 minutes.

Step 12

Uncover and continue baking for 15 minutes or until set and browned.
