Originating in rural Quebec in the 1950's, this authentically Canadian dish is now found in most restaurants and fast food outlets across the country. A variation of the thick cut fries, cheese curds, and gravy can now be found in many places around the world.

Ingredients
Step 1
Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep heavy skillet to 365°F (185°C).

Step 2
Warm gravy in saucepan or microwave.

Step 3
Place the fries into the hot oil, and cook until light brown, about 5 minutes.

Step 4
Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain.

Step 5
Place the fries on a serving platter, and sprinkle the cheese over them.

Step 6
Ladle gravy over the fries and cheese, and serve immediately.
