Shepherd's Pie with Lamb

The quintessential Irish meal with lamb instead of beef.

Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 Onion, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Step 1

Saute onion in 1 tablespoon butter until soft, but not brown. Remove from heat

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Ground Lamb, cooked
  • 1 12 cups Beef Gravy
  • 14 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 34 teaspoon Salt
  • 14 teaspoon Hot Pepper Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Butter
  • 6 medium Potato, peeled, boiled

Step 2

Mix in meat, gravy, pepper and Worcestershire sauce, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Beat until fluffy potatoes, remaining salt, and butter, pepper, and hot milk.

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg, slightly beaten

Step 3

Put meat mixture in 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Top with fluffy potatoes, score with fork to make a pattern. Brush with egg.
 

Step 4

Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
