Simple Baked Tilapia

Makes: 8 servings adjust
A simple yet delicious approach to fish.

  • 8 Tilapia Fillets, fresh or frozen are ok. no need to thaw.
  • 12 stick Butter, if fat-conscious, substitute extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Lemon, thinly sliced into wheels (use a mandoline)
  • 4 teaspoons Seasoned Salt, substitute your favorite spice mixture! this works with anything from creole to asian to southwestern!

Step 1

Prepare a half-sheet pan by spraying it with non-stick spray. Arrange the fillets on the sheet pan so they touch as little as possible and any overlap is with the thin part of the fish only. Brush fillets with melted butter and sprinkle each immediately with approximately 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt (or more or less to taste - you don't need to measure it just sprinkle it on there!) Top each fillet with one (or two if they are larger) lemon wheels.

Step 2

Place fillets in a 325 degree (F) oven for between 12 and 20 minutes (depending upon whether or not you put them in frozen). They are done when they are firm to the touch and the fish flakes easily (internal temperature of 145 degrees (F).

Step 3

Serve fish immediately as they can dry out if they are allowed to sit around. Enjoy!
