Simple Red Beans and Rice

A simple version of RB&R using readily available, "quick" ingredients.



  • 1 teaspoon Bacon Fat
  • 1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 8 ounces Smoked Sausage, diced

Step 1

Heat oil and bacon fat. Add sausage. Saute until sausages are nice and brown. The more you brown them, the nicer the finished product will be. Only don't burn them!


  • 12 Onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, finely minced
  • 1 Celery Rib, finely diced

Step 2

Add aromatics and saute until onion is translucent.


  • 1 can Canned Chili Beans in Spicy Sauce
  • 12 teaspoon Creole Seasoning, I use Cachere's but any brand will do.
  • 14 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 12 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup Canned Condensed Tomato Soup

Step 3

Add the beans, sauce, seasoning, salt, pepper, and soup and stir to combine. Bring to a low simmer and heat through.


  • 12 cup Water
  • 4 cups instant rice, , prepared as directed

Step 4

If the mixture seems dry or thick, add the water. If it seems creamy don't worry about the water. Add in the rice and fold to combine.
