Strawberry Ice Cream

Homemade strawberry ice cream made using classic technique.

Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 3 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 12 cups Milk

Step 1

Combine sugar, salt, flour in small saucepan. Add milk gradually, cooking over medium heat until mixture bubbles and thickens. Remove from heat.

  • 3 Eggs, slightly beaten

Step 2

Stir half the hot milk mixture into beaten eggs to begin cooking the eggs gently. Stir that mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining warm milk mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Remove from heat.

  • 3 cups Heavy Cream

Step 3

Let hot mixture cool. Stir in cream and chill.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint Strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 14 cup Sugar
  • 3 drops Red Food Coloring, optional

Step 4

Mash strawberries and sugar with potato masher. Blend strawberries into chilled ice cream mixture. Stir in food coloring if desired.
 

Step 5

Following manufacturer instructions for your ice cream maker, freeze into ice cream. Serve immediately or freeze for harder consistency.
