Another favorite dessert.

Directions

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Sugar
  • 4 cups Strawberries, sliced

Step 1

Slice strawberries. Stir in sugar. Set aside while preparing cake.

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted
  • 12 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar

Step 2

Sift together dry ingredients.

  • 12 cup Butter

Step 3

Cut in butter with fork or pastry blender until mixture is course crumble.

Ingredients

  • 23 cup Half and Half
  • 1 Egg, beaten

Step 4

Beat egg and half/half.
 

Step 5

Combine liquid and dry mixtures all at once. Stir until moistened. Spread dough into greased 9-inch round baking tin. Press dough to edges so it's thicker at edges than center.
 

Step 6

Bake at 450-degrees 15-18 minutes until golden.
 

Step 7

Remove from pan and cool on wire rack for 3 minutes. With a serrated knife, split into 2 layers, carefully lifting top off and set aside.

  • 3 tablespoons Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Whipping Cream, cold
  • 12 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Step 8

Whip cream, adding sugar and vanilla as it approaches correct consistency.
 

Step 9

Spoon 1/2 of strawberries and whipped cream on bottom half of cake. Replace top and spoon remaining strawberries and whipped cream on top. Cut into wedges to serve.
