Sweet 'N Spicy Tomato Bratwurst Chili

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. That means there were 3 foods I was weaned on that most babies aren't: cheese, Door County cherries, and bratwurst! To this day, I consume as many of all three as possible. This recipe uses two of my beloved foods.

  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced

Step 1

Melt butter in a large stockpot. Add onions, peppers, and garlic and sauté until onions are translucent.

Step 2

Add tomato bratwurst and brown.

  • 1 jar Preserves, Cran Apple Orange
  • 1 can Canned Diced Tomatoes with Green Pepper and Onion, 14 oz can
  • 12 can Canned Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce, approx 2-3 peppers, chopped finely
  • 1 jar Chili, Hormel brand Three Bean Chili
  • 1 jar Salsa, Newman's Own brand, Black Bean and Corn
  • 1 jar Refrigerated Mango Salsa, Newman's Own brand
  • 1 pound Bratwurst, Tomato-Infused. Regular diced brats work, too!
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper, diced

Step 3

Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil and then simmer for 30 minutes.

Step 4

Garnish with blue corn chips, shredded cheese and/or sour creamNote: Best if served the following day.
