Tasty Boiled Ground Turkey

Makes: 15 servings adjust
Ground turkey, while heathy, can be relatively tasteless if not prepared correctly. Boiling ground turkey meat is a great way to remove unwanted fat. It is also a convenient and tidy way to pre-prep multiple portions of ground turkey for future recipes. Simply portion the prepared turkey in quart-size freezer bags and store for future use.

  • 3 pounds Ground Turkey
  • 12 cups Water
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 12 cup Dried Minced Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder, (not garlic salt!)
  • 12 cup Italian Herbs
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cumin, (this infuses meaty taste in ground turkey)

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a stock pot or large soup pot. Crumble apart turkey meat with your clean hands or a spoon. Bring to a boil. Continue boiling for three minutes. Turn off heat and let sit five minutes.

Step 2

Strain in a colander. Place two cups of ground turkey into four quart-sized freezer bags. Distribute leftover turkey evenly among four bags. Press flat to remove air and freeze for future ground turkey recipes. This recipe yields approximately nine cups of prepared and tasty ground turkey. ** For smaller preparations, divide nine cups into nine small freezer bags. **
