Whiskey-Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Whiskey-Glazed Sweet Potatoes

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.


  • 4 large Sweet Potato, about 3 pounds

Step 2

Place the whole potatoes (do not pierce them) on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Lightly squeeze the potatoes - if they are soft, they are done. Let cool. NOTE: This step can be done the day before and then refrigerated until ready to make casserole.


  • 1 cup Pecans

Step 3

In a small saute pan over medium heat, add the pecans and lightly toast.


  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 34 cup Agave Syrup, preferably amber
  • 12 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 12 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 14 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 12 teaspoon Kosher Salt

Step 4

Add 4 tablespoons of butter, reduce the heat to medium-low, add the agave and spices, and allow to simmer for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.


  • 14 cup Whiskey, used jack daniels

Step 5

Add the whiskey and continue to simmer for 5 minutes more, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

Spray the bottom and sides of an 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 7

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut crosswise into 3/4-inch slices.


  • 2 cups Crisp Apples, peeled cored and sliced into 1-inch thick slices

Step 8

Arrange the sweet potatoes, alternating with the apples in the baking dish.

Step 9

Pour the whiskey-pecan mixture over the top of the sweet potatoes and apples. Place in the oven.

Step 10

Bake for 30 minutes (or until apples are soft), basting the top with the whiskey sauce once at 15 minutes. If nuts start to get too brown, tent with foil for remainder of baking time. NOTE: There was not enough liquid to baste when I made it but it worked out fine.

Step 11

Remove from oven and serve.
