Wild Rice

Wild Rice

  • 1 cup Wild Rice

Step 1

Rinse the wild rice in a fine strainer and rinse under cold water. Shake to drain.


  • 4 cups Stock, or water
  • 12 teaspoon Salt

Step 2

Place the rice in a saucepan and add stock and salt (don't add salt if your stock already has it). Cook over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil.

Step 3

When the water has reached a boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.

Step 4

Check the rice. It should be chewy and some of the grains will have burst open. It may need an additional 10-15 minutes - keep checking the rice and stop cooking when the grains are tender.

Step 5

When the rice is done, pour it into a strainer to drain off any remaining liquid. Fluff with a fork and serve.
